On October 24th 2015, we will be celebrating our son’s Logan’s bar mitzvah. Bar mitzvah literally translates to “son of commandment” or “Law.”

My research suggests that the celebratory Bar Mitzvah became a Jewish tradition some four hundred years ago. As for the cause of the celebration, this is the day when a Jewish person is given the agreement and privilege of observing G‑d’s commandments. For boys it’s age 13 and girl’s age 12.

Many kids, Jewish or not, want a bar mitzvah for the art of the reception. Every boy knows its theme way before they become men at the age of 13. My son loves exotic cars, Barcelona soccer, and that will be his theme. Stage one completed; Let the fun time ...

I will be reading A Day with Degas and providing a fun, interactive art activity. Here is what each child will experience:

  • Learn about the elements of art – space, color, lines, texture, shape and light – while you study Degas’ painting, The Dance Class

  • Travel in Time while Ms. Levy reads A Day with Degas

  • Express creativity with a fun, interactive art project
